No you dont have to under coat after you pull the heat shield off, I just did the entire underside while I was under there. I like to make sure all my cars last, even though my IX has only seen rain once, its nice to know that I am keeping water out of places that may cause problems later rust wise. I only spayed the areas that were not covered by the factory spray, no big deal. I dont notice ant adverse heat issues in the car, even during my last track day.

It came from show and shine. The thread was "official interior pics" i beleive. You will have to search through it to find the user who submitted it. I don't have the patience...its like 40 pages. I saved the picture for future ideas when I first saw it.

Have you actually weighed them yourself? I ask because this is heavier than what others have weighed them at.

If you have a pic of them on the scale that would just be amazing.

Thanks

I weighed them in the box they came in vs the stock set up. I weighed them in a box to keep everything together. Stock was 70#. I will double check the number I wrote on the box. What number have you been told? I could be wrong, but I am positive it was 44# minus a box. Maybe it was 34# LOL... Give me a few days as I'm out of town.... At any rate, they are the lightest and the best period for drag racing. Every scale is a little different just like dynos. If stock suspension is around 65 and mine weighed 70, just subtract the 5 from the 44 and you get 39. It is about right. 35-40 pounds. It is tons lighter than stock, you won't be disappointed. Here are two pics and I'll get home and look at the number I wrote down.

Most-Wanted - thanks for the info. I actually purchased megans a few months back since I could not get a consensus on the weight of the Apex'i units. I saw posts saying you would save 35lbs over stock and then I saw posts saying they weigh 35lbs.

I weighed my stock suspension to be 65lbs so I didn't see how they could save 35lbs yet also weigh 35. The megans I bought weighed 42lbs.

I just think it would be odd for the megans to not be the same weigh as the Apex'i units seeing as they are made by the same company and are pretty much identical.

Either way thanks for your info.

2 lbs a corner of extra metal is a lot but if they coilvers were weighed individiually and then added together the sum of the scale inaccuracies could account for maybe 4 lbs of of that 7 lb (42-35) difference. I know the people weighing $50 digital scales use to have a 2 lb tolerance for weights. Maybe another difference could be someone weighing the coilovers and assoicated bolts, wrenches, and manuals?

I think you're right in why there has been some confusion as to the weights.

It would be great to have an apples to apples comparison of the megans and apex'i units as they are supposedly identical.

lol... I know its pretty obvious, and I've hesitated doing this forever since

I'm like "what if I do get a flat?"

But in all my 10+ years of car ownership, I never gotten a flat ever....

so now I'll take my chances....
