Looks like aftermarket seats? Those can be a huge weight saver.

Don't save much? It's easy to drop 20lbs a side - 40lbs total I think.

I know my Sparco Fighter is super light.

According to the first page of this thread; 33lbs each.

My Sparco Fighter is said to weigh 16lbs. So that's a 17lb saving there; I'm sure there's something lighter out there too.

FWIW, I don't remove the front ones, as you wouldn't want to cut yourself during a crash on the metal of the door. IIRC, door panel covers are required in rally.

Dave, do you have any pics of how you are holding the window up? Thinking about doing this to our rally car in the rear as well.

That 33 lb. figure is pretty far off, unless the seats are significantly heavier in the Evo 8. I weighed my Evo 9 SE's OEM passenger seat with brackets and sliders at 27.4 pounds... I did this on a digital bathroom scale with .1 lb resolution, weighing myself with and without the seat.

When you add the weight of aftermarket mounts and sliders to a lightweight aftermarket shell, you might not save much weight overall. The Evo's OEM front seats are actually pretty light, unlike, say, the factory power seats in an E36 or E46 BMW...

Since I was removing the OEM 22mm rear swaybar today to upgrade to a Progress 25mm, here are the weights:

OEM rear bar w/ mounting brackets and rubber bushings: 12.29 lb.
Progress 25mm bar with new poly bushings, brackets, and mounting hardware: 15.83 lb.

Also, since I was just at the track, here's a pic of my car ('06 Evo9 SE) on the scales showing 2880-2885 pounds, with about 1/8 tank of gas in it:

My weight reduction:

AFTERMARKET PARTS

Megan Racing coilovers
Megan Racing O2 housing and 3" downpipe
eBay 3" test pipe
custom 3” turndown pipe (eliminates testpipe and catback exhaust – 4.22 lb.)
17" x 9" Kosei K1-TS wheels (16.1-16.3 lb each)
Vibrant intake filter/MAF adapter/Samco intake pipe
Muse Motorsports LICP and UICP
Muse Motorsports battery mount and Odyssey PC680 battery
AMS mustache bar eliminator kit (w/ bolt and 4 aluminum bushings) – 1.98 lb.
Girodisc 2-piece front rotors
BINARY (jid2) driver's side seat lowering brackets

XS Power FMIC (NOTE: 12 pounds HEAVIER than OEM @ 21.75 lb. with mounting brackets/hardware; OEM IC is only 9.75 lb)

OEM STUFF REMOVED

donut spare tire
scissor jack
windshield sprayer reservoir
trunk carpet, trunk liner trim
front strut tower brace
front and rear bumper crash beams
rear "mustache bar"
all floormats
glovebox
center console
ashtray
rear seats, including vinyl-backed "noise carpet"
passenger seat/sliders
rear wing
air intake snorkel
intake manifold support bracket
EGR equipment

2880 lb. is a pretty big difference from before I started with all the obsessive weight reduction... 3130 lb. with a full interior, basically everything left in except for the spare tire/jack :

Well, it's not that interesting to look at - just a stock SE interior, minus the glove box, center console, ashtray, front passenger seat, and rear seat. All that stuff comes out in about 15 minutes total. I didn't take out anything that wasn't really easy to put back in... I left the carpet, door panels, headliner, pillar trim and rear deck alone.

BTW, that 2880 lb. weight is with only a few gallons of E85 in it... almost to the point where the low-fuel light would come on.
