Stock car speakers SUCK!!!

I don't know if anyone else has had a problem with the stock car speakers, but my left front one is blown now. The funny part is that I barely EVER listen to music. And when I do, it's not loud at all.

It's not really a question, more of an observation. I mean, yeah, I understand you get what you pay for, but couldn't they have atleast put something a little better in there?!?

I guess I'll have to upgrade to a different set of components now. What's everyone else using? I had the Infinity Kappa Perfect component system in my old car and it sounded awesome. But the cost of them at Circuit City was crazy!! I've heard some good things about the JL XR's.

The evo was not made for rap music.

I have boston acoustics components up front and boston acoustics in the rear and thats all. No subs or amps or anything like that.

go with JL xr comps. I've been running them for the past 5 years in 3 different cars! Even through all the punctures and abuse they still sound incredible!!!

They're very balanced - not too sharp or too warm but just right and super clear! And did I say how tough they are? Plus they're priced right - about 350 or so. match it w/ clean HU like Eclipse and decent amps!!!

Night and day difference to stock. Good stereo lasts forever!

1st thing I ever done to my MR was replacing crappy stock speakers.
Pretty much anything other than stock speaker will make huge difference. lol.
I recommend MB, BA or JL component system.

Well, when I start listening to rap music I'll let you know!! That was a good assumption you made

Bass heavy music doesn't really do it for me. I don't really like house/techno/dance music either.

I might end up having to take a good close listen to the XR's. I hope their is a sound booth around here where I can hear them!! My brother is running Eclipse speakers in the front of his DD integra and they sound awesome. He's running them off a little Kenwood 50x4, but they still sound great!!

I haven't quite settled on a specific brand when it comes to speakers. As far as HU's go, I will only use Alpine. Not saying that brands like Eclipse or Nak aren't awesome, I have just always had great experience with any of my Alpine decks.

I personally stick to Focal speakers from France. Expensive but they are awesome speakers.

maybe you had a defective one? unless you were bumping music really loud i dont see how you'd blow the speaker randomly...

It does sound flat with Sirius, yes - but much better with a good CD. Sirius isn't CD quality.

i have an avic n1 with couple 10's and i tweeked them to the point where they sound pretty good....most people think i switched them out... theres next to no bass coming from them, so that solves that... its good enough for me....eventually ill upgrade but putting in the head unit was enough... when they blow ill replace them with alpine components

cheers!

Yeah, that was my plan too. I kinda think they really aren't bad speakers at all. They just need the right power and crossover. I'd rather upgrade my amps and sub first, and then go with a nice component set last, and then just use midwoofers with a bandpass crossover for the rear fill.

Same here. im running an Alpine D310. All the added adjustments of an aftermarket deck help out a lot. Even with the stock head unit in the evo... i noticed there was some room for improvement with just some tuning. Im glad it sounds damn good too... that money i thought i was gonna need for a complete system upgrade, went to go fast goodies.
