so i have had this installed in my Evo for the last 6 months and this unit has been great. i had it in my previous car and when i sold that i pulled it out and threw it into the evo. so, this is when my problem happened.. today. after driving and parking at a buddys.. i hang out for a while and go to start my car. my screen is black. music still works but no gps, no dvd, no screen at all but when i close it everything on the outside still works fine. i reset the actual unit, and nothing. still black. i disconnected the battery on my car.. still black. it goes into the stereo shop tomorrow. any help would be appreciated!

cliffnotes: AVIC-N1 screen is black. everything still works fine though

 

Sounds like the LCD may be out on it. Hopefully it's just a bad connection somewhere or something. I've never heard of this happening though. At first I was going to say that it may be in screen saver mode waiting for you to hit accept for the nav/dvd warning (my acura does this if you don't push the button within 10 seconds or so) but that doesn't sound like you problem.

 

get rid of it!! buy the Z1!!!! dooooo ittt cam
