Alpine CDA 9851 is trash..need EQ..suggestions?
hey all, i've had this HU for a few years now and it is trash alone...i see alpine says a digital processor(eq) FOR 4 - 500...which is highly expensive..i am lookin for an equalizer but all i see is 1 in put to 3 outputs...is there any equalizers that accept 3 pre outs ?? that will work for front/rear/sub???
i disconnected my alpine HU, plugged in my brothers very old pioneer , and instantly it sounded better without changin any settings...pioneers has bulit in eq where you can make alot of changes ,however the alpine units youcan't change anything really.
wondering if anyone has this HU with the same issue, what type of eq did you use???? please suggestions..thanks

Although the alpine head unit has 3 outputs u don't have to use them all, just run the aux out to your equalizer, and run your connections from your equalizer to your amplifier. This is what is did for my setup which was a 5-channel amp, Front/Rear/Sub

i think i was under the impression front/rear/sub amp output on the radio had built in cross overs, but i guess they push out all the frequencies...so i should be able to use fron tor rear as an "aux" output...only problem would be then i couldn't fade with the radio?

You might be better off just getting a new head unit rather than spending money on an EQ. You can get a decent head unit with good EQ capabilities for around $200-300.

the dramatic voltage increase from an external EQ will always be a better option. IMO. I would suggest an arc audio EQ. I may be able to get you a realy realy nice XEQ (9-11Volt out) (www.arcaudio.com) for much less than you'd pay for a deck with 4volt outs.
