Caps arn't built for sustained power draws... they are designed for peaks. they discharge quickly to handle these peaks, and recharge slowly. a good way to think of them is a 15 watt bulb, next to a strobe. They both may draw the same power over a given time, they just discharge the power differently.
a properly designed system has an alternator that will handle a constant load of the stereo (in addition to all the rest of the electrical load) 99.8% with the capasitor handleing the heavy load spikes of the occasional hard bass hits the other 0.2% of the time.
The reason that Caps get a bad rap, is because they are used as a band-aid fix to an over-taxed alternator, or they are under-sized for the application.
The battery itself should only be used to start the car, or when load of the electrical system overcomes the output of the alternator (for a short time), such as at idle with TONS of load on the electrical system.
If you have a large enough system to be worried about the load on the system, and you plan on running your system at top volume at idle, then I would suggest getting a high output alternator.

if i have an odyssesyy pc680, and i just want to add like a 10" kicker L5, do i need a capacitator? i'll only play it loud when im driving anyways and if im parked ill just leave the car on...so can the mini battery handle like 300-400rms while the car is running?
thanks
