12 or 14 gauge speaker wire?

I figure since there isn't much of a difference in price, that I should go with Metra 12 gauge speaker wire.

Also, is there any reason I shouldn't go with Metra?

For mids/highs, 16ga wire is usually sufficient. No need to really go bigger than that. For subs, 12ga wire is usually sufficient.

As for the quality of Metra, I have no clue.

Monster twisted is great, and JL Audio ECS Speaker Cable is equal quality, which is what im using.

Is twisted wire more advantageous? Also, how is Stinger stack up against monster and JL? I did order Monster RCAs by the way.

Any comments on Phoenix Gold?

I ran 12 gauge for my mids and crossovers, 16 gauge for my tweets, and 8 gauge for my sub speaker wire. Little overkill, but might as well if its around the same price. It was all JL wire, but thats because I got a killer deal on it.
