◄Head unit install, now running lights stay on►

My roommate has been letting me drive his EVO so I do favors for him since i co own an auto repair shop.I dont like installing head units without a plug and play harness but I tried it out anyways.

I installed everything properly, it's a Clarion 7" Flip out in a 05 EVO 8. All speakers work. There was one wire blk/ylw that was for the illumination. Well since all aftermakets light up anyways, I disconnected it thinking this would solve the problem. Negative. Once you turn the key to the ON position, the running lights light up. Now, when you go to the headlight switch and rotate it to the running lights, they get a bit brighter. So a constant 12v is not being delivered until I rotate the headlight switch.

Has anyone else had this problem? I even disconnected the radio harness and they were still on. Thanks guys.

With the radio disconnected, check all fuses in the fuse box in the cabin and under the hood. Pull them all out one by one, check them, and re-install if its good.

Next, go through and check the radio connections. This is what I have for wire colors directly from the tech sheet. I always use a dmm to confirm. Good luck.

Radio 12V - Red/Blk
Radio ground - ground to chassis
Radio ignition - Blu/yel
Radio illumunation - grn/wht

left front spkr - (red,wht)+, (red/blu)-
right front spkr - (red)+, (grn)-
left rear spkr - (wht/blu)+, (ylw/red)-
right rear spkr - (lt. grn)+, (ylw/grn)-

I used a wiring diagram from Mitchell Management. I checked and rechecked every connection. If it was a fuse, the lights wouldnt be on at all...but I have seen weirder **** happen. I will try that tomorrow. Thanks.
