Stereo help...

Hey guys,

I've done some searching, maybe what I am asking for doesn't even exist.

Here's what I want to do. As you guy probably know, I've got an RS. It has the factory wiring in the car to plug in a stock EVO radio. What I'd like to know is, is there some type of device I can plug into that harness that is hidden, that I can simply input my MP3/Ipod/phone into to listen to music?

I was told someone on here just took his radio out and installed a small amp that allowed him to do this. I can't find the thread.

If someone knows and can shoot me a link of what I need I'd appreciate it.

Thank you!

Ipod to RCA adapter, small 2 or 4 channel amp that will have wired outputs for the stock speaker wire, power wire to the amp and then tuck it up somewhere out of the way. you could use the stock wires in the dash for the power, signal to speaker. Shoot me a PM and I'll give you the number to a professional care stereo guy I use that has done some awesome custom installs that have won several auto sound competitions as well as competes with his own car in IASCA.

So any small 2 or 4 channel amp will work, all I need is an Ipod to RCA adapter and plug the ipod into the standard RCA input? Well that's easy enough.

I just ordered some ching chong walla walla bing bong item from ebay in China..........cheap as hell, real simple but I don't know if I'll ever get it.

Tomorrow while I'm out running around I'll look for a standard amp and adpater. I'm gonna need one for the '32 Ford project too.

Thank you!

No problem, let me know if I can help. You might even find an OEM harness adapter from Crutchfield that will prevent you from having to cut your factory harness. Scosche makes some good adapters also.

Here is what I could find on the Scosche web site.

ipod connects via 1/8 headphone split to TWO PAIRS of RCAS to connect to 4 channel amp.
then 4 channels on that amp should be connected to a wiring harness you can plug into the factory wiring.
if you just want the front speakers to work you would need a two channel.

Thanks for the help guys. Anyone have a spare harness they want to sell to plug into the factory one?

I'd like to not cut the factory harness, although it may have already been cut, I can't remember.

There's a thread about the '32 Ford on here somewhere with a few pics in it.

There is most likely no one able to sell a harness like what you are needing because it's used in their car.

The best thing to do would be go to an online shop, such as crutchfield.com and buy a harness for ANY manufacturer such as Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, etc. That harness will be nothing more than a plug that plugs directly into the stock wiring harness, wires, and then a plug that plugs into whatever model of stereo it was made for. Simply cut the wires at the manufacturer plug, and viola, you have plug and play harness for your new amp.

BTW, my stock fuel pump assembly gets sent out to you today for a double pumper.

I finished the project already. I don't want a deck, I haven't been happy with a deck yet. I posted another thread of what I ended up doing, cost me about $75 for all of it. The car now has the factory radio delete plate in and sounds better than any "standard" EVO radio I have ever heard. I'm not talking about a multi thousand dollar stereo..........although it might.

I liked how it all came out so much I ordered another one. Simple, clean and I can listen to so many different things through it that I am just amazed.
