Stealth radar detectors
Does anyone know a good undetectable radar detector? I am in the market for a undetectable one. I am preferring one that doesnt look like a radar detector cause ive seen some that are mounted on the front windshield and its obvious that its a detector.. maybe one that looks like a gps? or maybe where i can have the sensor wire mounted somewhere cops cant notice? ive had a friend who hid his under the mirror flap which i thought was sneaky.. any input is appreciated, thank you.

There was a write up done a while back of someone who take apart his Valentine 1 and moved the sensors to the front part of the winshield and third brake light while also having the main lcd screen where his clock used to reside along with a remote display on his dash. very good work.

I run mine on the right side of my driver side visor (valentine 1). I have the conceal module mounted low on the power plug. It only lights up low where no one can see it at night. It is also very difficult to notice the unit outside of the car. I have never had any issues, although I will pull it down if I see a cop whip a u turn just in case.

i myself have an escort 8500 and stash it in the very bottom left corner of the windshield, right under my base stickers. with tinted windows, cant see it during the night time, diff lighting modes and whatnot.
if im not mistaken, if the radar is hardwired into your car, they cant do anything about it

you can hide it but if it doesn't have VG2 technology, the cops will still detect that you have a radar detector even if it is unseen. I have a V1 and would detect other detector's signal everytime.

most states dont have laws against it. however a handful still do.

Most of you might already know this, but here goes nothing. In DC, its illegal to even have it in the car if I'm not wrong. In VA, its okay to have it in the car as long as its not being used. Other exclusions include Military bases, airports and Commercial vehicles and any vehicle over 10K lbs. There might be a few more exclusions but that's about the gist of the matter.
Now radar jammers, they are illegal everywhere by federal law as FCC controls their frequency usage. Laser jammers are legal in many states though, its frequencies are controlled by the FDA which does not restrict its usage in anyway, but some states have laws that specifically ban them.

If you want to completly hide. Get a K40 Calibre.
But I and most of my customers prefer the Valentine 1.
We have a guy out here in NY that puts the display unit in the rear view mirror. rest of the sensor body is mounted somewhere else. But he charges $1,700 for that!!

This may be a little off topic, but definately dont go cheap when buying a radar detector. You'll definately regret it. Valentine 1 is definately the one to get tho.

I have the K40 Calibre installed in my 06 MR. I love it. I installed it myself as I am a tech. I mounted the rear sensor on top of the crash bar beneith the bumper and the front sensor on top of the FMIC. The two lights are mounted on the right and left sides of the cluster housing and the speaker and brains are below the dash on the drivers side. No way to know I have a detector in the car. The lights look like alarm lights. Stealth. That's the way to go!
