Code Alarm CA1550 any good?

Really need to put an alarm in the Evo. I don't want remote start I just want something that will let me know if my car has been broken into/messed with. My buddy is an installer and he can get me this unit. I really know very little about Alarms so looking for some input if anyone has any experience with this brand/unit. Thanks everyone.

We used to install these alarms at my old shop. They are good for the price, but we always had little problems with them. The two way pager alarms would always seem to disconnect from the car and the remote would always have to be reprogrammed. The CA650 seemed to always be really reliable and the cheap CA100 basic alarm never had problems. All the others that we did had these disconnecting issues and/or they would come back after a year with another issue. (real PITA). There customer service is not all that great either. But they are one of the few companies that offer a lifetime warranty, no questions asked, on there two way remotes. ( at least when I worked there thats what the rep said)

IMHO, through all the years with my all my cars current and past cliffords and vipers never gave me any problems. I would recommend you get one of these instead, just from my experience.

I currently have a Viper 5902 and its been great. I have had it about a year and not once had a problem with it. I'm actually adding the iphone interface tonight so I can use my phone as the control pad.

The 350 you may possibly get is also a good alarm. I will say though the only downside to the viper 2 way alarms, are the 2 way remotes if you break them they are expensive to replace. (about 150 i believe) I would say get the Viper, i think you will be more happy with it.
