about amps, speakers, and radio

well ive been looking into getting a radio, amp, and speakers for a BOAT not my evo...

so everything is labeled in WATTS from what i see... do i add up the amp + radio + each speaker to get total WATTS?

what would be enough WATTS to hear on a boat?

what makes speakers able to get super load... not like a sub... what makes it super loud to play music the amp?

The sensitivity of the drivers (speakers), the efficiency of the system driven by the install, the power of the amplifier, and the space it's in. All this is relative to the perceived noise floor and a given degree of distortion. You probably thought that you were asking a simple question.

When you say a boat, is the music meant to be heard inside or outside? Where (exactly) do you plan to install the speakers? Will the system be used for fun sort of listening, or will anyone listen to it critically?

These will play very loud and they don't need a huge amplifier to do it.

They're both single speakers. The top link plays the mids and the second link plays the highs. Without dipping into raw drivers and horns, this is about as loud as it gets. IIRC, Crtutchfield.com has a few basic audio guides. Looks them over, perhaps do a quick Google search, and familiarize yourself with the idea. You may want something easier to install, once you know where the speakers will live.

So if I want 4-6 speakers I need to buy the bottom speaker 5 times on that site, and add up all the watts of all 4-6 speakers to get the correct watt for the amp?So I would need like a 400-600 watt amp being that each speaker is 100 watt they say

I can either spend a few hours writing a tutorial or you can do what I suggested and read a basic audio guide. Once you're done, we can discuss the details of the project.

Sure, there's just more work involved in getting them going. If you're comfortable with that, they (ie. Soundstreams) will play louder. BTW, their prices are for single drivers, not pairs as with Cadance.
