Alpine CDA105 + Radio Relocation Kit ??

I'm having trouble attaching the lower cubby panel on from the radio relocation kit. I previously had a Sony CTX HeadUnit in there before and it fit without any problems. I'm wondering if this metal trim around the Alpine unit is making the lower cubby not sit flush against the radio? What do you guys think? Have you had any problems using the Alpine CDA105 headunit with the lower cubby?

The radios are iso-mounted into our cars. You don't need to use the cage.

The Alpine should have came with the screws and on your relocation bracket there will be two holes on each side, just put the screws through those holes into the side of the Alpine.

When you say cage do you mean the metal trim around the radio? I didn't look very closely but it didn't seem to be removable. So this is what's causing my fitment problem then I presume?

by the looks of it, that cage is removable. look around it for tabs to push up and it should slide right out. that's your problem.

Yeah that metal trim piece around the radio. Just get a flat head screw driver and on the sides of the metal trim, just lift it up on each side and the radio should slide out. If you bought the radio new, you should have gotten a set of keys (two flat metal pieces) that slides between the radio and the metal bracket on the sides.

Not sure if you already got everything taken care of but if not, hope this helps.

And yeah, this is what is causing the radio to not fit properly inside your car.

Thanks for the help I'm going to take a look at it tomorrow or the following day.

Do I use the keys to remove the metal cage assembly? Or are the keys for mounting the radio?

Keys are for removal of the metal cage from the radio. If anything just lift up the tabs on the side of the cage with a flat screwdriver.

Gotcha thanks for the help guys. I'll take a stab at it today.

I also ordered Alpine MRP500 amp with a JL10w6 sub. Should be exciting! And all my components are Type R-s.

I'd also make a recommendation of getting the Alpine power pack that has been talked about in this forum a little bit.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ower-pack.html

Cost is around 120 dollars and puts out 5 watts rms per speaker less than the Alpine F300 amp.

So that would be used to power my component speakers correct? I was debating on getting this or the F300 amp after I get my sub/amp setup going.

You're saying the power pack is the route I should go?

It would be used to power all 4 of your speakers inside the car.

I'd get this amp if I didn't already have a 6 channel amp already.

Amp is about 120 bucks, 80 dollars less than the F300. You don't have to buy more wires and saves you time to install this. It's pretty much plug and play for your Alpine.

Kinda late but I have that head unit installed in the lower cubby area. No cage needed like you were already told. It will fit flush and nice.

Awesome thanks guys! I'm about to have a full Alpine setup in a few days once everything gets in.

And NWEvoViii, damn you for talking me into that amp. Just found it off sonicelectronix.com for $109 shipped. Can't beat that!!

Any ideas where to mount it? Behind glove box possibly?
