Want to buy speakers; Crutchfield says no (please read)

After five and a half years of suffering the hell that is the Mitsubishi 140 watt stock speaker system, I have finally decided to invest in some new speakers.

After much research, I have decided to go with the following setup:

Head unit: Alpine CDE-123
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500CDE1...e_123&skipvs=T

Front Speakers: Alpine SPR-60C
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SPR6...rch=alpine+spr

Rear Speakers: Alpine SPR-60
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SPR6...rch=alpine+spr

Subwoofer: JVC Arsenal CSAW7240

Sub Amplifier: JVC Arsenal KSAR7001

Speakers Amplifier: Alpine KTP-445 Power Pack

Here's where it gets complicated..

When I went to select those speakers on the Crutchfield website, it says that the front and rear speakers would not fit the Lancer Evolution. I thought this was some sort of error on their part, so I called a Crutchfield representative and asked about it.

Apparently, the Evo speaker holes have a very short mounting depth and despite having the right diameter for the speaker opening, most speakers won't fit.

WTF

She went on to say that most speakers won't fit in our cars.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Is this something I can fix by not using the stock speaker grilles?

As of right now, I plan on ordering two pairs of Alpine SPR-50C: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SPR5...r-50c&skipvs=T

One set in the front and one set in the back, because even the coaxial SPR-50 speakers are too tall to fit in the rear deck. (Once again, if I can fit them by removing the speaker grilles, that might be something I'd consider doing because the SPR-50Cs are pretty pricey.)

Sorry for making this so long, I just wanted to provide as much information as possible to get the best answers.

Any additional input related to this matter is greatly appreciated.
Also, I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions about my setup.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Im sure someone else can elaborate.

I had the yellow kevlar pioneer mounted on the front doors and rear deck. No problems. Those were huge speakers!

Hmmm.. Any idea how tall your speakers were? How was the height clearance after you installed them?

Do you have the Coaxial Type-R speakers in the rear deck? I was told due to the center-mounted tweeters that it would be pressed up against the speaker grille.

Also, Is the difference for the amp that noticeable? What alternative would you recommend? Keep in mind one of the reasons I'm reluctant is because I already bought a subwoofer and a monoblock amp to go with it. Which means I'd have to run two amps.
