Evo 8 HVAC HELPPPP!!
So just had my ac diagnosed and I was told my evaporator core was leaking. I know 2003 evo 8s have numerous HVAC issues. I just don't want to pay $1000 dollars to replace this part and my ac still not work. And all the threads I've read on here don't say much about the evaporator core leaking. As far as I'm aware the compressor an all of the other HVAC parts are still working. If anyone knows anything or could throw me some advice I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Well you should be able to find a NEW evaporator core for less than $100 (just did a quick search so double check $$...ebay, etc.). Have the shop remove all freon and do the install yourself and then have them refill/charge your system back up...
I got quoted $1,000 + to replace my ac compressor and supporting parts.... no thank you.... Thankfully my ac issue was a result from too large of an 'air gap' on my compressor. Removed the oem washer and it now blows ice cold. Fixed for FREE...well..just my 15 minutes of time to remove the washer.
Hopefully you can go this route (buying an evaporator core on the cheap vs. paying a shop to source it for you) this can save you a lot of $$$!!!
