I opted for the Cusco Carbon, almost identical to the Exedy, made by the same parent company, Daiken clutch. My clutch actually says Cusco AND exedy on it, but the carbon/carbon contacts make it very driveable except when it gets hot, and the opposite happens to this opposed to the other clutches. It gets stickier!

I don't think the Cusco is actually carbon/carbon. I think it's a carbon/metallic, (like the Excedy is Cerametallic (sp?))But it should work better when hot (like a true carbon/ carbon clutch). I wanted the Hyper Carbon twin but couldn't justify the cost.

I had Buschur put one in and it took less than 4 hours - amazing. There is a lot of chatter, and I have a moan, much like brake pads squealing, when I start to move in first gear. Is this normal?

Sure is, I have almost the same clutch. Its especially noticeable when your on a hill trying to stop from rolling in reverse on the get-go. Bishiboy, old response, but I realize that now.

I have the exedy twin in my car now for 10 months (12,000 miles). It doesn't even chatter anymore. Shifting is smooth and it doesn't make as much noise. All this probley means is it is probley almost worn out.

I just got my exedy twin plate in today. I'm getting ready to do a clutch change and maybe this is a stupid Q, but is it mandatory to replace the 'throw out bearing' when changing clutches. also, does anyone have this clutch rod piece that Lancershop.com has? Do I have to get that too. I'm not too familiar with the tranny sied of the house, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.........

I have 2 friends here in town and they use the Exedy 2 plate unit. Thin disks. One of them makes lots of whp. Clutch will slip from a dig. Not a Drag Racing Clutch. But it holds power after initial roll. Their opinion has been both the same. If they knew now then, they would have gone with another brand! Many think that because it is a twin plate and it cost lots of money it is the last clutch they will buy. Not so! Expect wear and tear just like any other clutch! Just a bit of 2nd. hand info!

I got the cusco carbon unit instead, heard better reports of this unit but the exedy has thinner disks because it uses two of them. I dont see a reason it should slip. Anyways, the clutch line, rod and a new throw out bearing are good to have but only the bearing is necessary to replace. The rod and line dont do much, especially the rod. Overexxagerated claims of adjusting the clutch. The system is self adjusting as it is, so it doesn't compensate very much.
