Quick CEL Question

Hey Y'all Quick Q:

I know if I put my catless turboback on now, my car will throw a CEL but does that mean that by the time emissions testing roles around I auto-fail the OBD-II test or do they go off of the info. the ECU is spitting out during the actual test itself? Just wondering if I will fail the OBD-II even if I replace the test pipe with stock cat. Thanks for your help.

Once they see the Check Engine light on. They won't touch your car until it's off and fixed.

Some stations will tell you the code but will record a failed test on you.

Your probably getting a PO420 code ... normal for catless exhaust. Just put your stock one back on when testing rolls around and you'll be fine. Oh yeah ...clear all codes before testing.

Thanks that answers my question. I haven't installed it yet (partially because I'm about 1,000 miles away) but also because I was concerned that if I did I would fail the test even if I put the cat back on. So how do I reset the codes?

OBD-2 scantool. A lot of garages have them, you can probably talk someplace like
autozone into clearing them for free.

Or, you can buy an inexpensive scantool for your pc here:
