Experimental: Electronic BPV/BOV

I recently upgraded my turbo with a Buschur BR440. So far the turbo kicks *** but I've also discovered that my 1G BPV leaks at full boost (21 psi). I quickly decided that an upgraded valve is in order. There are a number of "better" valves on the market but it seems that there are still the same issues of part throttle flutter and a bit of a hassle getting the aftermarket valves properly tuned.

A while back I came across an interesting techinical article on Autospeed. Basically the article described a blow off valve system that seems to completely eliminate part throttle flutter and is far less prone to leakage. Here's the article: http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_2188/article.html

The system consists of two components:
1.) A solenoid (electrically) operated pilot valve, and;
2.) A control circuit.

Basically the way the system works is that the controller monitors throttle position sensor voltage and any time the throttle is rapidly lifted, it closes a relay. This relay is used to operate the pilot valve. Adjustments can be made to determine the proper throttle lift speed to open the valve, as well as the duration of the valve opening.

I'm going to experiment with this set up. I've got the controller on order. Here's the pilot valve I've picked up:
Service rating: 0 - 200psi
Coil voltage: 24V (works fine on 12V)
Dimensions: 2"X4"X6" (overall)
Pipe size: 3/4"

More info to follow as I work this thing out.

The valve is fairly compact, especially without the hose nipples attached. As far as the port diameter. it measures 0.875". That's as big as any 1G BPV. It should flow plenty of air when opened. Here's the page from the McMaster-Carr website: click here #4711K84.
