When to switch to fully synthetic

I have been told by different people to swith to fully synthetic at different milages. After 700 miles I replaced to conventional oil with with semi synthetic. Now when do i switch to fully synthetic? I have heard the next oil change and i have also heard keep using semi synthetic until 6000 miles? Also for central california climate (30-60F) degrees winter hot summer and mostly at low altitude except when i Tahoe, what weight oil should i be using? RIght now I am using 10w-30
thanks mike

Read some of Claudius' post... especially the one on breaking in the EVO engine. I think it is generally after the first thousand miles that you switch to fully synthetic.
