anyone with ssq pls help

If you bought the hks ssq bov specifically for the evo and not the universal model, it came pre-adjusted for the evo specifically, I got mine universal, and I am having great difficulty tuning it with my boost guage alone, so anyone with one pre-adjusted, if you could tell me how many turns your adjuster screw is in or if you can think of some other way of describing how far it is in that would help me alot. Ive called hks a few times, but they dont help me any...

how many times you screw it doesn't matter.. basically, drive it how it is... then slightly come off the accelortator until your foot is off completely... if the car still pulls while letting off then you need to loosen it... if it dies out before you let off, tighten it...

According to HKS, you shouldn't touch the screw on top. Leave it alone.

but I've tried that, and don't notice a thing. The only thing I ever notice is if the screw is more towards the loose side, when I suddenly let off the gas in 1st or something the rpm drop to about 500 and then recover, which makes me think its a rich spot so its too loose, but I have no idea where to tighten it to. My boost doesnt seem to be affected either way tight or loose, but I dont want bearing damage, nor do I want to run too rich anymore.

yea, recirc would help, but I'm trying to get by vta, I know I will never get rid of the bog after shift due to the maf trickery but I certainly don't want to be getting compressor surge. What is the downfall to making the screw on the ssq too loose? hks tells me it has nothing to do with sensitivity, but moreover how much air is released. I find it opposite, when I tighten it alot, I get almost no flutter and it takes much more boost to make the blowoff actuate.... I don't know who/what to beleive. You'd like to think that they know what they are talking about. and once again I would like to know if there are any problems with hooking up my boost guage to the same manifold pressure line that goes to my bov? everyone uses the (fuel pressure sensor something or another line [the one with the plastic wrapped around it]) does it really matter? would I get a more sensative/accurate reading on the other line so I could more adiquately diagnose my bov situation?

I just finished installing my HKS SSQV w/ recirculation kit today. I didn't have to touch that adjustment at all, I just got back from a 15 mile test drive and the car ran perfect. Quicker spool up, it seems to pull harder "probably because of the HKS RS Intake"

If you want I can go take a picture to show you how far the screw is out on top.

Also, I dont know why you want to vent, but I can assure you, it is quite loud enough recirculated. And it makes your car run 100% because thats the way it was meant to run.

Heres that picture... and I didn't have to have any custom hoses.. I used the stock bov hose from the UICP to the bov... and the HKS RS kit came with a rubber hose to re-install the stock bov in there.. I just cut a piece of 1 inch hose (because the outlet on the bov recirculation fitting is 1" and the inlet on the intake for recirculating is bigger" and put it on the recirc fitting on the bov and plugged it right in there, it was easy.
