I'm trying to decide whether to install the SBC id3 that I have out of another car in my Evo, or just get a mbc.
I feel a little more comfortable with the long term reliability of a mbc since it's a mechanical device, but maybe that's just wrong-headed thinking since the car has electronic boost control stock.

It depends on what do you want to do with the car....so far we still think MBC does a good job.
Testing with old EVO IV we found and increase of 3psi max from a hot setting against one cold (im not sure, i remeber it was something like 29°C vs 11°C).

there will be endless debates over manual or electric boost controller but seriously think about it.. if its so cold outside that you spike 2 psi over, then maybe you shouldnt be boosting at all with the road condition....
if you drive aggressively during the winter, maybe you should join a rally team.. but as far as the street goes, keep off boost until nicer weather.....

you'll have to play it by eye.... you will spike in the winter so you turn it down... you wont spike in the summer but if its hot enough your ecu will pull timing so i just say wath the boost gauge and ur fine
