So far the gains have been pretty good for most who've done just a housing upgrade, the Titanium turbine and shaft do help spool, which would help the car's drivability and definitely feels nicer. Power wise, the value is there for the cost, but its pretty subjective because this kind of mod seems to work best in concert with other changes that help airflow and efficiency.

If your looking for a single bolt-on thats worth a huge gain, then this turbo may not be for you. But it definitely makes an already fun car on the street feel alot nicer. And the gains in torque and HP are there. Just don't expect giant turbo numbers. This one is all about drivability.

The x-axis is in kg/sec, to convert to lb/min, simply multiply by 132 (2.2*60). We're interested in mass airflow and not volumetric airflow (CFM)... remember that it's the mass of air that determines how much power can be made, not the volume, it's a common mistake.

So does anyone know the efficiency range of the turbo in question?

Here's a link to all Mitsu turbos . . . whether they are 100% correct, you'll be the judge of it.

I just installed a tubular exhaust manifold from SSautochrome and a titanium turbo from the Evo 6 (TD05HRA-16G6-10.5T) . This combination is wicked on the street and pulls much harder up top with the 10.5 housing. If you are looking for a pure horsepower increase, you don't need to get the titanium turbo, just get the 10.5 housing and put it on your stock turbo. The titanium turbo wont make any more airflow, just faster spooling with the larger A/R housing. Swapping in the 10.5 housing on a stock turbo, should spool just a little slower than a stock turbo car, but have a little better top end power.

I know the combinaton of the tubular manifold and 10.5 housing works nicely.

Well I just looked at the picture and noticed for the first time that it is stamped TD05HRA-16G6-10.5t as evidenced here http://linux.forcedperformance.net/m.../TME1_full.jpg I've ordered this turbo, and with the Walbro FP, 264/272 cams, and Vishnu stage one package I'm hoping I'll be happy.....

^ That is the exact combination of parts (maybe different cam combo) that I am aiming to end up with... I'm going to be very interested in your thoughts on the setup... From everything I've read, you're going to be happy..

Let us know...

Also on my datalogs last night. I am seeing a 1.5 to 2 lb/min increase all over the rpm range with the new set up. The biggest jump in air flow is in the 4000 RPM to 6000 RPM where it is on about a 2 lb/min increase, on the top end it is aroung 1.4 lb/min increase. I had to add 2 to 3% more fuel in the midrange and 1 to 2% more in the upper rpm range to keep the same air/fuel as before.

That seems to correlate with what's been said about this unit. The ultimate power potential is roughly the same as the factory unit, but it packs more midrange wallop. FWIW, my observations certainly concur, with the spool characteristics being right about stock (thanks to the Ti internals), and it gives a bigger punch squarely in the midrange.

In terms of "feel" it is more like going from stock cams to Hks, at best. Definitely noticable but not at all a major upgrade like going from stock turbo to a Garret gt30.

On the datalogs, I went from 3000 RPM to 7500 RPM's .3 seconds faster with the new setup. This was a 3rd gear datalog run only. 1st and 2nd gear are hellllaaa nasty now. It has a much deeper sound now after it gets into full boost. Have you guys heard the same difference in sound??

has anyone just swapped out the standard wheeled turbo for the titanium alloy unit while keeping the 9.8 turbine housing?
