No he didn't. Leon only ever ran around 12.06@113mph with his small 16G. As far as I know, he never dynoed his car with the small 16G. He has never had nitrous installed on his car.

Good enough to win Stock Appearing at the shootout for a number of years, though. He is a fantastic drag racer.

Lets see:

1. I have never had N20 in my car…
2. I have never claimed to have made any specific power with a 16G, because I never dynoed it in those days!
3. I didn’t get into mid 400hp range, until I was running a SBR GT13 BB turbo
4. The most I have ever made on a true 14b (6cm^2 housing) was 305whp. And this was using VPC, I am pretty sure that I can now do better with the AEM EMS.

Otherwise, you got it right!

The truth is here.

Not one person in this discussion knows the actual weight of the car and its driver. Not one. The owner guessed the car at 100lbs less, and he may be off considerably for all anyone knows (it has lighter wheels, rotors, and things removed). Guessing at the weight and hp numbers is purely that...guesswork.

Anyone can add N2O and get more power (e.g. 450whp), but that isn't relevent to this discussion.

Furthermore, it should be noted for the benefit of aspiring newbies, et al, that all these elevated power levels are strictly obtained with race fuel, such as C16, which yields more power per mass unit. Unless you can ride around using a map dedicated to a fuel that costs $7-9/gallon, it's pie in the sky.

Let's assume for a hypothetical minute that we find a dyno that will gift us with a reading of 450whp with the factory turbo. Will it be usable and reliable on a real world basis? No. FWIW, the car in question is pinging audibly as it runs on the verge of destruction, so it shouldn't be expected to last long regardless of what power it's making.

So go ahead and spend your time arguing over speculative numbers, calculations and figures. If 'John Doe Newbie' asks, "But can I make 450whp on the stock turbo?", even if the answer could possibly be "yes" from a theoretical P.O.V., in the real world, where 99% of these cars are not dedicated to being swiss-cheesed and running on the ragged edge of destruction at a drag strip, the answer is effectively "No".
I agree with you 99%.... the only problem is you and everyone else in the thread knows we are talking about race gas figures so don't use that as a reason to discount the numbers. Also, the fact that many people have already made over 400 wheel HP on dynapack / dynojet AWD dyno's (everyone also knows we are talking dynojet style numbers here, not dyno dynamics numbers) without any problems. I do have an upgraded hot side 10.5cm housing, but it is the stock compressor that everyone is saying can't make the numbers so let me chime in with my personal experiances. I made 411 wheel HP on C-16 running the same timing map I run on 93 octane. I have no doubt just by tweaking the timing I could gain 30 to 40 HP with ZERO KNOCK. Hell, the "uber-tuners" in this thread are already saying the numbers I have made are impossible, so I guess running more timing would actually gain me zero more power right?

Whatever,

Keith

Again however, we have speculation. Maybe you will, maybe you won't. At this point, neither you or me (or anyone for that matter) really knows what you'll get before you blow it.

Do you know what is involved in getting an additional 30-40hp through ignition adance? This would mean that your current tune is so far down on the MBT curve that your tuner should be ashamed of himself!

I wasn't going to come forth and say that, but I certainly concur that expecting 30-40whp from a timing adjustment sounds awfully optimistic to me.

In any case, good luck!

Yes the gain in speculation. The same people that a lot of people are bowing down and worshipping in this thread say what I have already done is impossible, and I have done it on a conservative no knock tune... that was my point. Half the people in this thread are convinced that you can't even make 400 wheel HP and they are wrong. I make 375 wheel HP on pump gas every day of the week and twice on Sundays running 11:1 A/F ratio..... I bet people will tell you that is impossible as well!

I am running the same ignition advance on 117 octane as I am on 93 octane. And as the tuner, no I am not ashamed of myself, I ran out of dyno time.

If you were willing to pay for the trip and the dyno time I will come out and make 350 whp on your dyno dynamics dyno on the same tune I am running right now on race fuel, and then we could tune from there to see what I can get with ignition fiddling Last time I was on a dyno dynamics dynometer I made 333 wheel HP and that was before the upgraded hotside on the turbo, the SSautochrome header, and the SSautochrome O2 housing. That was on oxygenated 105 octane unleaded.

411 DJ whp is roughly equal to 355whp on a DD. FWIW however, the 10.5 hotside and header seem to bump midrange torque, but don't seem to do much of anything for the top end...possibly because the turbo cannot move additional air. I also have the O2 housing, but I didn't get much of anything from it.

Anyway, good luck!

Personally I think it is definately possible. However I don't care for dyno number. MPH at the track is what I'm talking about. 124mph in a stock turbo evo is nasty. That should be damn close if not 450awhp.

One of our customers made 395/392 awhp on a mustang dyno here and runs 11.9@118 in the Florida heat. Did I meantion he is on pump gas with stock turbo(non ported, non 10.5) and stock motor with 272s. I can't wait for it to get cold here and see what his car really does. He is having clutch issues right now so hopefully that will be worked out soon.

It is nasty, especially if the car's weight was stock...but it isn't, and we don't know what it weighs.

The basic stuff. He just knows what he is doing. No secrets just good combination and tuning.

The truth is that most people who claim 400WHP and over on stock turbo don’t come here with dyno sheets, run slips and true weight of the car. They come and throw some numbers with some parts and they say its secret sauce. Well we need pics of the car, slips and dyno sheets from a dynojet or DD with base run of a stock EVO on the same dyno to get a small idea. Everything else is talk talk talk.
