Miles per tank went from 300 to 200 to 280, spark plug related
Hey guys just wanted to share.
1) I got around 250 miles per tank stock
2) Got a turboback, MBC, and a DYNOFLASH....my mileage jumped to 300 miles per tank.
3) Replaced stock plugs for a set of NKG BP7ES, I immediately got 200 miles per tank! I reset the ecu and regapped the plugs twice.
4) Replaced the new plugs for a set of fresh OEM ones and miles per tank went back up to 280!!!!!!!
What do you guys think? By the way, my driving habits remained constant throughout this whole thing. I wonder if those who have changed the stock plugs out for the nkg's are getting somewhat similar results. I can only explain the drop from the 300 to 280 as being winter gas related/cold tire pressures.

Makes perfect sense. The NGK is a "colder" plug and it combusts less fuel volume than the oem plug... Hence the safety margain realized by this plug when running higher boost. Trade off is more power but worse gas mielage.

300 miles per tank? That makes no sense. Do you never boost?
What is point of getting and EVO to get 300 miles per tank plus if you are E you usually have 1.5 gallons so 300/10.5=28.5 miles to the gallon is that even possible? Maybe if you drove 60mph on highway but never got on the boost but what would be the point of that.
Not trying to attack you but just understand
In comparison I average around 20mpg city/highway.

yeah I get 20 mpg to.
How are you fuguring you MPG? You filled it up intill it was at the top of the fill lip right. Then filled up again to the same spot,(almost running out) then saw how many miles you drove and divided right?
Is there a different way to find out you MPG?

Snoop,
I drive 55K a year for due to the job. It's not that i dont ever get into boost but rather, I am on the highway ALOT! I have 58K on my evo right now and I bought it about 14 months ago I fill up usually when the needle is on "E" not when the light comes on.
