well, they're telling me the aftermarket clutch amplifies whatever issues that we had before with our stock clutch.
Like it's hard to put the shifter in the gear in the morning with stock clutch, and now it's harder to put it in gear in the moring when the car is cold. Reverse too, I really have to work at it. But after the car is warmed up, it's smoother.
Something about the fluids not warming up that's causing the shifter to go in harder in the morning when the car is cold...
The dealer I went to is fantastic. They actually installed my clutch so they already knew about the situation. They already put in Exedy, ACT and few Carbon Carbon disc on evo's already. They already took the transmission off of evo 7 several times before the evo 8 launched in usa so it's good.

I am impressed that you would talk to your dealership about having a aftermarket clutch in there... they must realy like you or something.. well that or u dont care about your warrenty.

We tried adjusting the master cyclinder rod but it did nothing. We then had to adjust the ... shift linkage! Pulling the smaller shift linkage (small bushing) towards the driver's side of the car and having another person try to move into first gear made it smooth as butter to get into. The problem however was where to adjust this. The location to adjust is a bracket, while looking at the shift linkage. It's towards the front of the car which is attached to the transmission. It's gold(?) in color... we adjusted that and it was good to go!
Thanks for all the suggestions, I hope this solution helps someone in the future.

Wow.. my ACT works perfectly. Once the line and slave are properly bled you shouldn't need to adjust the rod as that is only to contol free play in the pedal at the top. You do not want to pre load. If your stock clutch was adjusted properly then you should not need any changes with a proper install on the ACT.

underneath your dash, following the clutch padle up, you'll see a little white push switch with blue plastic around it. Right above that to the left, there is this rod(screw) that's connected to the clutch pedal with a upside down U brace.
You'll need 12mm wrench and 6mm wrench. You have to loosen up the bolt stopper closed to the U bracket. Turn left to loosen, turn the rod itself to the right for faster engagement, left for slower engagement.
Don't do it too much, you should turn the thing only about 1/4 in and out and adjust from there.
Pictures are on the first page. Good luck, it's not that hard, it's just hard to get there.
