They have been compared since 1992 and many people agree both are great but they involved different concepts as many of you noticed it.
Both are nice cars, both are far better than many "sport cars" but last decision depends mostly on many factors as price, toys, knowdlege, marketing, interiors, service support, etc
I got a Lancer GSR because my previous car was a Lancer 1.8 CE and i loved such Mitsubishi´s symplicity & reliability...my friend a Impreza WRX because of the same thing plus his Subaru owner´s heritage.

The Sti and EVO in an average drivers hands driving at 8/10s are almost identical.....
This is the smartest comment in the whole thread.

Everyone here always "magazine races" their car. How about everyone actually go learn to drive the damn thing and stop keyboard racing and from the size of the wrecked evo thread not many on here do know how to drive an Evo.

Instead of "Car and Driver did..." how about "I did..."

I have owned both cars. I did not like the Sti's 2.5 liter engine.
That is why I'm in my EVO

I test drove an R32 and it had one of the best sounding exhaust notes I had ever heard. It is a very comfortable ride too, not to mention its very classy interior.
