Go figure Tranny Problems and P0300.

I recently killed my tranny and now have a P0300 code I can't get rid of. Looks like I have to wait till after I get the transmission rebuilt.

To all those who wondered if it was related. It looks to me as though it is because I have never had the P0300 code before my tranny failure.

I thought the P0300 code was a random code that didn't affect anything. Wasn't the recall fix from Mitsu just like a reflash? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

They tried to fix it by making the sensors more dull to the noise but the fact is that it's a half *** fix for the true problem. It's cheaper to do flashes than replace a tranny isn't it?

P0300 = Random multiple cylinder misfire, it shouldd have nothing to do with your tranny.

I have that code. There are threads that show the flash does not work, Then there are ppl with tranny rebuilds done that fix the problem. What I have heard is the tranny is vibranting more so it ends up tripping the knock sensor.

I recall Mitsubishi had linked the p0300 code to a noise/vibration from the transmission. So there is definitely a link.

Our One Lap car starting throwing the P0300 code during One Lap. Turned out the mainshaft was bent from all the racing and hard launching. Once the tranny was fixed, the P0300 code was never to be seen again...

Obviously you have no clue as to why it throws any CEL when you have an issue do you? It's ok but it is due to drivetrain vibrations in many cars and has been proven. It uses input from a combination of sensors (one of which is the knock sensor).

How can a tranny cause the car to misfire? I am definitely getting more than just the code. I can feel the car shuddering when it throws this code. Is the tranny randomly making the car shudder under light load in 5th gear? What would cause this?

The p0300 relays that the knock sensor is picking up "activity" the "activity" that the knock sensor is seeing is just vibration from the tranny and not a misfire.
