i just got mine in the mail yesterday and i was hoping you guys could answer a couple quick questions about it considering some of you have some experience with it.

1) i'm using autometer gauges and senders for oil temp and oil pressure. do you just mount the senders directly into the two allen holes? it seems like they're fighting me on going in but they ARE going, i just wanted to make sure i'm doing it correctly and don't need some sort of adapter fittings or something.

2) do you have any idea what that big capped off bung is that comes with its own tiny o-ring? does it do anything or need to be adressed at all?

Double check the threads that you are trying to put the sending units into. Most japanese companies use a BSP thread not an NPT. You may need to retap the threads to be NPT for the Autometer sending units.

what kind of places re-tap? or are their DIY kits? i've never had to retap anything before.

Any reputable machine shop can handle that for you. Ask the performance shops in your area for a recommendation. I am in Detroit and would do it for you if you were local.

i should have mine on monday
have the same deal as you. they are bpt so you need to retap them to npt. thats why its "fighting" you.

i dont know anything else about the unit yet

hey all just a quick update for anyone who might search this in the future.

i went to the hardware store and got an NPT 1/8 thread bit. put it in a vice, inserted the bit, and went down little by little by twisting with some pliers. now the NPT Autometer ends fit nicely. just be careful and take your time.

btw, the bit cost me $5.00

the have a T handle that you can get for the tap.. it will make your life so much easier.. also ensures you are going down vertically..
