This may give some insight as to the possible differences between the '05 10.5 turbine housing vs. prior 10.5 turbine housings.

The diagrams differentiate between the Evo VIII MR and Evo VIII but do not specify what year EVO VIII. Is the revised 10.5 turbine housing unique to the MR or is it used on all '05 Evo models?
Additionally, is the slightly larger compressor housing shared by all '05s or only the MR?

I've been thinking about the ultimate EVO turbo.
Get a 10.5 with a Ti wheel, the 20G Turbocharger.com/Buschur compressor wheel then send it to Essex in UK for the BB conversion and get their 17PSI wastegate acuator.
Should spool to max boost well below 3K, with max boost pushing above 28psi. Probably cost around $2500-2700 after shipping. Which might not be too bad considering it will bot up to stock pieces.
$1500 for 10.5 TI turbo w/ 20G wheel
$250 shipping to/from UK
$750 for BB conversion
$260 for 17psi acuator
$2760 total
Essex also has this "Evo RS big wheel –1570 ball bearing conversion supplying new turbo £1700.00" ($2550ish).
I'm glad to see stock Evo turbo mods coming along.

I see people talking about a different compressor cover? What is it? just a different name for comprressor housing? Why are people upgrading? Whats the benefit / difference between the unit that comes on a 03 evo8?

Anyone have a source for the new compressor cover (PN: MD613573)? Rockville Mitsubishi, generally very good support, told me that this part is backordered over 90 days.
