Review of Muellerized RS

My '04 RS got the John Mueller / RRE engine treatment last week. I already had the JIC/Mueller suspension (coil overs & rear swaybar). Without getting into every single part and mfgr. involved, I now have cams, upgraded intercooler, bigger fuel injectors, fuel pump, gauges to monitor air/fuel ratio and exhaust temperature, manual boost controller, intake, titanium exhaust, rally cat and downpipe.

I ran at the California Speedway roadcourse last Friday Dec. 17, after picking the car up Thursday night (actually, Mike finished tuning it at 2:00 a.m. Friday). Cal Speedway is an incredible experience, running over half the Nascar Oval and then a road course in the infield. The car is way faster than before, has less lag at the bottom end, and screams to the redline in every gear. Not only that, but it Farts Fire!!! The rear bumper cut-out for my exhaust tip is all sooty.

Yeahp. YOu gotta burn/combust your fuel, decrease your fuel, or tune the AF ratio. Your car could be faster...

He got tuned for where he was going and for his experience level. He was headed straight to the banking of California Speedway (flat out in 5th gear for a _long_ time) and he has no prior experience with anything tunable on a turbo car. He got what _he_ needed which was rich and safe and slow. If anyone needs lean and mean and ragged edge of doom for living life a 1/4 mile at a time, I got that too.

Mike -

I appreciate the tuning you did for me, in the middle of the night and all. You are right. I am new to tuning of turbo performance cars, and the run on the Calif. Speedway Oval section is ***** out all the way.

I guess I need to re-tune. I'm going to Big Willow on Jan. 29 & 30, and maybe Buttonwillow on Jan. 15 & 16. Between now and then I will be driving on the street, now and then, but most of my street driving is in my S4.

why do you need a re-tune?

so you can run lean at the track and blow up your engine?

I am guessing you already have enough power, no?

IS2000 -

Thanks. Which car are you?

Don't worry about me. I'm used to trolls. There are 60,000 of them on the 350Z boards where I used to hang out. Some of the trolls are moderators there. I hold the world's record for getting banned on those boards, including banning my IP address (and all 3000 employees at my company who have the same IP address through our PC network), and then coming back with a new incarnation.

We can talk off-line about whether I should leave the tuning where it is for now.
