Problem w/ UR testpipe & SES light

Well, I didn't get a check engine light with my UR testpipe for about a week. Now I can't seem to get rid of the thing. After reseting the code, the CEL would pop up again after the second time I start my car. This has happened five times in a row now.

I have tried both pulling the wires through the second under-body hole and extending the wires of my 02 sensor, but I still pull the P0420 or whatever the code it was.

My question is has anybody else had similar problems and does anybody have any suggestions of fixing the CEL problem?

No problems and no CEL with mine for about 4 months now. I'd check the wires again if you spliced them to extend them. Could be a bad wire connection.

I agree with eazyevo, sounds like a bad wire connection. I had a problem with my wire extensions after about 3 months of no problems. What had happened was that I didn't wrap the wires behind the heat shield enough and they started to melt the wire insulation and eletrical tape. The spices got loose and I had to reattach them and then make sure I secured the extensions properly behind the head shield.

No problems since (knock on wood)...but I'm always semi nervous since a) I drive in the midwest with snow and crappy roads and b) the 02 bung on mine does not point horizontal but diagonally down.

You could of switched the two ground wires around. Even though they are both colored black they need to be in the right position when spliced back together.

Hope this helps

I didn't extend my wires for the first week the pipe was on. I just pulled the wires out far enough to reach the bung. I got the CEL a week later which is when I decided to extend the wires, and I did them one at a time to make sure I didn't switch the wires around. and yes im sure its the second sensor. I got the code pulled and it said it was the second one.

I'm starting to wonder if the 02 sensor is bad. Is there a way to test the 02 sensor?
