Defi Control Unit

Defi Control Unit
Today I install my Defi gauges, and everything works but the closing ceremony on the gauges when you turn the ignition off. Anyone with ideas?

Do you have the gauges in the right port on the control unit? BF series gauges need to go into the second port on the control unit while all other Defi gauges go into the first port.

I double checked, I do have the gauges in the correct port on the control unit. I tried both ports out, they will not work in the wrong port........I will have to play more with it, but i have tried everything i can think of.

You probably are drawing power from a source that is killed when the ignition is turned off. Find a constant power supply wire to tap into and it should fix your problem.

I used an add a fuse to provide power. I switched where it was hooked into and have more of the shut down ceremony, now i just dont have the needle turning off. The control unit does remember the setting for peak so it does have constant power.

how hard was the install on these where do they all get taped into wires etc... i cant decide if i should go with these or the d series and save the money .... im thinking do it right the first time so yeah some insight would b nice thanks!

There is no closing ceremony on the BF gauges, only opening.
When you take the key out all it should do is stay on for 1-2 seconds longer and die. I don't think you did anything wrong.

Right, its only for 1-2 seconds - and if he swears by his wiring - it should be exactly that. The opening ceremony is much longer and pronounced than the closing blink. You are correct NegativeB.

I love the BF Gauges, defiantly worth the money. On the closing ceremony the needle instantly goes dark and drops to the bottom and the peak and warning light stays on for a few seconds. Looking at the web site (http://www.defi-shop.com/product/bf/bf_top.html) of the ending ceremony the needle is supposed to drop to bottom then the gauge light goes out, then the little red light, then the peak light, then the needle. I am not getting all of that. I do have constant power because the Defi-Link control unit II does remember my peak and warning settings, but I dont think I have the power hooked up to a good spot. A friend of mine used an add-a-fuse and I think that maybe that might be the problem, but I can live with what it does. I dont have it hooked up to a illumination wire either, so I can not make it go dim, it just stays on.
