Question Mileage after cam install?

What will the mileage drop to after a cam install with various cam options:

264's mileage?
272's mileage?

Just looking for the differance...

If you are looking for good "milage" just stick with the stock cams. I get around 12-14 mpg with my setup.

Exclamation being more specific...

i should of been more specific. I wanted to know what is the gas mileage difference between these two differing duration cams. Since from what I have read the 272's are rough idle etc. they would probably use more gas. Also, I watched the video with the fq400 and the tester mentioned it getting 6 mpg. As far as engine mgmt, I have nothing yet. Just looking to get more info on cams, which will be my next step...

Making 375 wheel HP on a dynapack AWD dyno on a daily basis, if I can resist putting my right foot down I get around 27 mpg on highway trips. This is stock turbo, stock internals but stand alone engine management and 272 intake and exhaust cams from HKS.

Keith

PS: I know you want info on the differences between 264's and 272's but I don't know of anyone who has run both with all other conditions the same.

Thx Kieth, the more I read re. the mileage, the more it looks like the tunning is critical. I just dont want to install cams without EM and get 8 mpg. Anyway I appreciate the post. thx.

Cams actually ADD gas milage, they make the car more efficient, now this only works if you STAY OFF THE BOOST! i get great milage with my 272's, if I get on it, well it burns fast.....

I concur with uniami80, I immediately experienced better gas mileage with my 272's, off boost of course.
