How to make 260+ HP

Hey there. I'm trying to find out how I can make over 260WHP on my EVO without swapping out the OEM turbo. I heard of getting a turbo-back exhaust, boost controller set at 21PSI, intake, 255LB pump, new BOV, and a reflash. Is this true? I don't want to start spending money and not get anything out of it. I NEED HELP!!

I dynoed at 276whp on a mustang dyno (reads low, stock evos pull 218whp) and all I had was 3" turbo back with no cat, k&n, walbro, mbc at 20.5psi and my car was pulling timing.

With those mods, you can make very close to 300WHP on pump

I know a '05 MR can get 280+ whp on a DD dyno with cam gears, full exhaust and XEDE with 93 octane pump gas.

I think the '03 and '04 models get less power from those mods, but still I think yiou'll achieve the 260whp goal.

I had a custom reflash and cat back but got no noticeable gains (my car was slow before and after).

I guess you can try running an exhaust, MBC and some kind of reflash or SAFC, but I'd go with the XEDE or EMS of some kind. The XEDE tuned properly can get you good power gains, specially with the full exhaust and cam gears.

Yeah, with the mods you listed above you'd be at about 300WHP or so. 260WHP is done with a few mods if not 1.

Not true, 260 whp on a DD or Mustang dyno is nothing to laugh at. A typical stock EVO8 will dyno 190-210 whp on one of those dynos. To get 260whp you are looking at 24% to 36% hp increase depending of where you start...... The only single mod that could produce gains like that would be a full stand alone or XEDE tuned very expertly. 300 whp specially with pump gas is a huge increase from a stock car. I don't like ppl throwing numbers like that recklessly. That's how ppl get suckered into huge expensive mods that end up producing marginal gains and terrible driveability problems....

Sleet, your mods are not just one or two and your sig says 315 whp..... can you get 260whp with one mod? BTW, what did Turbotrix tune in your car? The stock ECU? Oh yeah, your 315 whp was probably recorded with a Dynojet dyno..... Those are known to read higher than a DD dyno. What's your car output in a DD dyno?

What sort of dyno do you want 260whp on? That's what it comes down to, dynos all work so differently that comparisons are stupid...there's Evos who say they have 235 or so stock whp on other dynos and some are even higher whps, Mustang is supposed to be the most realistic and true to actual road driving whp, I got 207 whp on a Mustang dyno bone-stock...so you can use that for a referense if you want 260 on a mustang, if you want 260 on some of the others, you really hardly need a thing...heck removing the stock cat converter and getting a cat-delete MIGHT be able to do that, 260 on a Mustang dyno is a pretty fast car

If you use what I refer to and most others do to as the "Industry Standard" for dynos then the Dynojet brand dyno will give you the 260 whp with ease. Actually our stock '03 EVO made 256 whp on our Dynojet and many others have done it on AWD Dynojets and Dynapack dynos.

Our new '04 only dyno'd 237 on our dynojet. There is definetely some differences in the cars right from the factory.

Al at Dynoflash has done a few MR re-flashes for us and is coming this week to do some custom Buschur Flashes. He just made 290 whp on an AWD Dynojet dyno with just a boost contoller, 93 octane and the flash.

What you are asking to make with your EVO is an easy task.

There are many other people with the same mods who throw down the same amount of WHP. I'll check around for some dynos.

I dynoed 229whp stock on a mustang dyno, so a turboback and mbc should get you to 260whp
