Question Best Drop In Replacement Filter

I have a K&N drop in. I know there are a few on the market. I am concerned that to much dirt is getting through( Rumors ive heard?) Anyone switch companies for any reason?

Thanks

They sell a K&N cleaner kit on Lancershop. I'm going to buy it.

bump for more responses. I'm curious about this too. Does the K&N REALLY cause any kind of problems?? I keep hearing "gossip" about it but I've always used them on other cars without any problems. eh??

I am using a Blitz LM drop in filter. Performance wise, I'm pretty sure all the drop ins are around the same (1 hp or so increase, if that)...as far as filtering efficieny, I like the Blitz unit because it utilizes a steel mesh type material.

K&N filters have been around for a LONG time, and in many cases more effective for stopping dirt, especially over a longer period of time than the foam filters.

K&N says clean it every 50k. Try doing that with your HKS foam

Honestly with my K&N drop in I noticed the turbo spooled a bit quicker vs the stock air filter.

k&n is the way to go, been around for a long time and as long as u clean it every 20k-30k miles u will always have good performance from it. I have notived too better turbo response with it. And those rumors about letting more dust inside the engine is more true when it comes to foam filters.

Honestly that is probably the result of a placebo effect. If not though, more power to you.

revision

BMC...only one that I have seen that actually makes power. Franz @ KTR perf tested a wide assortmanet of filters and CA intakes, and the BMC drop in using the factory airbox made more power consistantly over all others he tested. A few front running ALMS and Grand-Am teams are running BMC filters....and hey Ferrari F1 teams uses as well.......

I heard a problem on putting too much oil on the K&N filter element will cause some oily/greasy build up around the airbox.
