From a roll teh M5 would not have an advantage to a 300++++WHP Evo, which traps at 108MPH, well teh M5 traps at 108MPH as well, give or take but cose enough to not get rapped.

That M5 was modded, may have been a Dinan Sleeper, I mean a supercharger is 500HP.

only way you'll top an m5 is to get a mr tranny, and a bigger turbo.
m-5= hella quick!, 400 horsepower for old ones, 500 for new ones

same thing happened to me last night, except i ran into a 03 mustang cobra with intake/exhaust and no cats.

off the line and till about 100mph i stayed ahead by a 1/2 car length, but after 100mph, he started walking on me.

I need more top end! heh

What a car traps from a standing start and what happens in a 70mph+ roll are not necessarily comparable:

Let's say we have an EVO that runs a 12.7 at 108, and the M5 does a 13.2 at 108. What this means is that from a standing start, where an EVO has its biggest advantage, it is losing ground to the M5 at the 1/4 mile mark.

How can this be?

Because at the 1/4 mile mark, while the M5 is just slightly behind, it has reached the same speed in a shorter distance than the EVO, which means it is now accelerating at a faster rate and will overtake the EVO. Remove the EVO's standing start advantage by starting from a roll, and the M5 will win, as we've seen evidenced in this thread.

The M5 is no heap, by any means....that is a BADASS automobile. The new V10 is trick as sh*t, a very close friend of mine, who consults for BMW had the complete blueprints back in July and showed them to me, some really awesome engineering.....

We can all appreciate a fine automobile being enthusiasts, as we all are.

why does it matter? you're comparing two totally different beast. why does everyone with evos persist on beating everything out there? just cause an m is faster up top doesn't mean the evo's a pos. i'd still rather have one for track duties over almost any car. well at least it would be top 5. as for a daily commuter the m5 is pretty hard to beat with the evo. btw the evo was not made for top end power. 4 bangers just can't sustain those high end jaunts like v8s with torque. now i would understand if you were a m5 owner and got stomped by our wussie little jap crap $hit boxes but it was the other way around.

Not really, just geared differently. M5 is geared great for the autobahn. Evos are geard for much slower speeds.

I don't think an MR tranny would help. 1-4 are almost identical to the GSR, 5 is a little different, but 6th will just run you lower rpm. Its almost an overdrive for evos.

AWD and a boxy car doesnt help the evo with drag either...stuff you really cant do much about.

Basically, if you want a highway monster, get a different car.
