I think that the M5 is a low 13 sec. car (with a good driver), my best friend has one.

4.111 is an aftermakert final gear ratio i believe HKS Kansai is the only company which makes it. Stock final gear ratio is 4.529 on the GSR, and for the GS is 4.875. This can not be used on the 6 speed MR tranny though.

FWIW my previous job was as an art director for a BMW publication. When the E39 M5 was released, BMW AG sent out a press release because they ran an M5 ungoverned (speed and rpm) to a GPS verified 198mph. This was with stock everything else, only taking off the rpm and speed restrictions from the ECU.

That does not sound like a big difference.....but I know nothing about gearing!

05' mr vs. 04' porchse SUV turbo

within a week or so after i broke in my MR i kicked this trucks *** from 75mph to 135mph. Downshifted to 5th @ 75mph and he couldnt pass me. I noticed i was going 135 and let off. He ripped past me when i let off, i think he hit 155 or higher.
Also just blew away a new bmw 745 from a red light. The dude was pissssssssed. He wanted to fight just cuz he lost to a lil $40k 4 door 2.0. HAHA
GO EVO!

I ran an older (200?) M5 that ran a 12.68. He said that was his fastest run ever. I have it on video if you want to see it.

No I'm not. Actually the final drive is nearly identical: 4.58 in the MR, 4.52 in the VIII

But I was slightly off about the gearing...

Evo MR: 2.91:1, 1.94:1, 1.43:1, 1.10:1, 0.87:1, 0.69:1 Final: 4.58:1

Evo VIII: 2.928:1, 1.95:1, 1.407:1, 1.031:1, 0.72:1 Final 4.53:1

So I guess 1-3 are pretty close for both cars, while 4-6 in the MR are closer together than 4,5 in the GSR.

Slight separation differences though. An M5 is still geared better for high speeds than an MR or a GSR, which is what I intended as my origional point.

Just get some 272's. I ran a modded Z06 from about 40 to 110 and won by like 1 foot. I was proud of my car considering it was on pump gas and stock turbo.
