After mixing a couple gallons of 100 octance with the 91 (approx 93 octance) the car produced 227-230whp. Soon I will be getting a programable ecu to safely run my car on 91 octane. Until then i am forced to mix race fuel (expensive) with 91 octane to prevent pinging.

where do you live that they only sell 91 octane? go to shell, they have 93 at every one ive been to. i ran into this problem with my stealth, but because 93 octane wasnt enough to safely run 16+ psi with my upgraded turbos. instead of getting a reprogramable ecu and spending alot of $$$$, try looking at a water/ alcohol injection kit or a propane injection kit. it effectivly reduced detonation by up to 18+ knock sums on my data logger.

They have a Cenex where I live. I have seen other Cenex's throughout Washington state also. They sell 94 octane. For some reason, at 94 octane my car feels slower than at 92 octane. The ECU must be programmed for 92 eh??? I always ran the 94 on the eclipse though. Its weird because its only like $1.40 a gallon too!

Damn 33% power loss is crazy. It makes me want to somehow disconnect the front diff hehee. a RWD WRX would be tight...

That is the graph from the EVO7 broshure and numbers are in kW for the power and N-m for the torque.

Here's the graph right side up. Is this an EI Evo VII? I can't believe it put those numbers on 93 octane! That's all we have around the east cost

Vishnu Performance is Located in Northern California (Bay Area) and which the highest octane rating for that State is 91 on pump gas.
So, 93 octane is not available in CA. (CA Emissions regulations)

With roughly 230AWHP for a stock Evo VII, you should be able to achieve a 1/4mile drag time of around 13.1X to 13.X (Trap Speed 102MPH+), depending on driver launching (60ft. times of 1.9X sec or less) skills.

srfsup97, nice numbers btw!

Ok. Now that makes sense. No wonder my Math teachers always told me to label my graphs back in HS.

Have you guys seen the 350Z'a dyno chart. On 91 octane it makes 244WHP. Thats only about a 15% loss over the 287 its rated at and its a six speed. On 100 octane it made 249WHP. Guess the carbon fiber driveshaft helps.

Hey Mike glad to see your dyno posts up on this site. Please remember everyone that dynos read differently from model to model. We have an Aussie DynoDynamics Dyno(www.dyno.com.au)in our shop in Pleasanton. Mikes Evo VII was very impressive in stock form on the 93 octane gas. The car should really be run on 95 octane for the best results. The 02/03 WRX makes 160 Wheel Horsepower on our dyno which translates to 227 flywheel horsepower. Mikes Evo on 93 octane is making 70 wheel horsepower more than a stock Suby!!! That equates to around 310 flywheel horsepower. Car looks great in blue Mike, and thanks for letting me drive the Evo. Hope to see you on 2/1/03 Saturday at 11AM for the DSM meet at Vishnu Performance.

Just so everyone knows...you can get 100 unleaded in California that is safe and legal to use in your car. Go to www.76.com to find 76 gas staions that sell it. It costs $4.00/gal but it is worth it for turbo charged cars. I would much rather keep the stock JDM ECU in a EVO VII and spend an extra $2.50 / gal than get some crappy ECU with the timing retarded just to run 91 octane. Why buy the car if your just going to de-tune the thing anyway? Heck with 100 octane you could probably safely raise the boost another 1-2 psi with JDM timing.

Would higher octane mean more power for an Evo 7. How would you go for advancing the timing?

Down here in FL we can see anything from 87octane... all the way to 110octane, but that gets pricey.

If the Evo made 230whp, it would be more like 285-290 flywheel hp. Sounds about right (with average 25% drivetrain loss).
As for the 350z..that is about right. A rwd car typically has right around 15% drivetrain loss.
