Where to buy code reader?

Hey guys.. needing to get a code reader for my evo.. been getting random SES lights recently and I really don't want to deal with the dealership :\

Anyone know where I can get one for a decent price?

Would you consider a logger? They are invaluable when tuning and displays/clears trouble codes. This is the set up I use and it works perfectly;

Any Palm M100/M500 series with hot sync cable ($50).

Palm OS data logger (free software);
http://students.db.erau.edu/~szabafab/stein/

T16-003 OBD-II connector ($82);
http://www.multiplex-engineering.com/interfaces.htm

Just throwing out another option.

Hmm Do they make any software for a pocketpc like that? or even a laptop? I've got both a laptop and pocketpc but no palm :\ Would be sweet if they had something like that for the laptop.

They do make the program for a laptop but they do not recomend it. The software should run perfect on a palm m100 which you can buy really cheap. I ordered the connector this week and should have it early next week and will post a review. Here is a link to get a palm m100 Link .

I hate to buy all that just to figure out what this SES was about.. It hasn't come back on since I reset the ecu.

Is this the code reader from autozone that will work with the evo?

If you don't want to buy one just take it to Autozone and they will code scan it for you for free, but yeah if you want to buy one they sell it for about $150.

Are you sure autozone does it for free? That doesn't make much sense to me, maybe they charge a few bucks?

Autozone will not technically do it for free. This is how it works. You actually rent the code reader by putting a deposit. Once you are done with the unit, you return it to Autozone and they will refund your deposit. They won't read or clear the codes for you (because it's so fricken' simple?). If you're lucky, the girl behind the counter will only ask for you for two forms of ID and you walk out with a codereader.

that website doesn't mentoin the sample rate for an EVO. from the research i've done it seems that OBDII isn't capable of sampling the information fast enough to be able to use a logger for tuning. pocketlogger lists the sample rate 19-20 per second; at 6500 rpm we have @ 54 combustion cycles... so that means your going to see less then half of whats actually happening.

sorry for the OT.
