HKS 264s making noise?
i usually run an hks downpipe to an open 3" cutout or bolt up the restrictor plate so its hks dp-->UR Test pipe-->stock exhaust...well with the exhaust shut it makes a strange rattling on decceleration...and a wierd vibration after like 3k ...i thought the balancer was maybe 180* out, the shop looked at it and said it was fine...they put the car on the lift and the sound was coming from where the cat and dp meet...i opeded the exhaut and the sound went away...could the extra exhaust pressure be somehow making this noise or is the shop screwing me and the balance shaft is really off?
I also have a CEL now, and ive never had one before

I had HKS 264s and had a P0300 light and lots of valvetrain noise. For whatever reason, when installed GSC cams (272/264) the valvetrain noise and P0300 are gone! I am still not tuned for them, but they feel strong.

thats good evotexas...i have a set of GSC 264s for sale... I was going to install them but i got last minute fears and bought a set of HKS...im happy with the hks, but maybe i shoulve just put in the gsc's...i dont have any sort of tuning yet either but the cams still make the car pull alot harder around 5~6k...very happy

be careful...the balance shaft noise heard under loud exhaust could definitly be mistaken as a lifter noise...loud quick rattling under decceleration...I KNO for a fact that front balance shaft/ oil pump gear has a trick to align it and unless u or the installer arent experienced mith mitsu then it can easily be messed up and even still look aligned at TDC... i thought mine was a lifter noise too until one of my friends with alot of dsm exper. took a ride...then again, if you only installed cams that shouldnt have been touched, but i had my timing/ balance belts done too...
