Lifter cleaning tips, tricks

umm, cleaning the lifters is not going to do much but waste a lot of time. the only reson why that noise is so pronounces from inside the car is that the hood has no sound deadening material on it. so if you want, do that but it'll add weight...

if you're gonna do all that, you might as well get ARP head bolts, Ti retainers & lift springs while you're in there. they will only help your cams work better & then you can rev safely to 9K...

I end up doing all that along with solid lifters. But before I do, the GT30R turbo is going on along with injectors and a clutch, mild tuning then back to the head.

YOu think you have a tick now, wait until you go with solid lifters
By the way, properly installed cams will never tick
Proper bleeding of the lifters prevents the seals inside the lifters from rupturing. In other words dont use the same shop for your future work, and if you did them then you should use a good shop

The tick wasn't always there. I have had my cams in for about 4 months. The tick started about 3 weeks ago. I'm guessing that I would either have to replace the lifters or re-bleed them. It seems that it is coming from Cyl 1 or 2 and is 1 or 2 lifters that are making the noise. But the tick goes away once the engine passes 3000rpm.
