ATP Turbo Upgrade

In super street magazine this month, there was a tech article on the ATP GT series turbo upgrade...
GT3037s GT3071r GT3540R
I just had a couple questions, on the dyno in the mag they claimed an increase from approx 235whp to approx 421whp! and the best part was that they did it on the STOCK untouched head, echaust manifold and Bottom end, and only mod was a 3" exhaust!!
Is this for real, i mean, i saw the dyno sheet but 421whp? at all 4? on a stock 4g and exhaust Mani?seems like a scam....anyone have experience with this particular kit.
i'd love to see the numbers this kit would put down on a built 4g, or even one with a new tubular mani

o ya sry, GT3037s, apparently the 3540 makes even more, but requires larger injectors...well, more fuel. and the GT3071r sppols faster, but produces slightly less power than the 3037, ATP claims it spools only about 2-300 rpm higher

Az3ar has the ATP 3071 kit on his 03 evo, but he is not making the type of power he was hoping for, although that could just be the tune ???!!!

From what I have seen on his car its a pretty nice kit for those who dont want to break the bank on a upgraded turbo kit, It has great fitment and is soooo stealthy when you leave your factory heat sheild on

so they are saying they are making over 400bhp wit hthe stock injectors ,rail and pump?? sound a bit sus to me.

still sounds like a good way to go for a turbo upgrade. and cheaper than others!

thanks Chris.

I read that article in Super Street.....its pretty hard to imagine that a turbo swap and a turbo back exhaust can make that much power. They didn't actually dyno it at all, they just did the install. They claim to have made up to 420 whp and 355 torque, which is insane. I might have to look into something like this.....very sly and stealth, just the way i like it!

This is complete bullsh$t.

From what I've seen, an ATP 3071r is a waste of money and does not really outperform a similarly equipped 16G.

The ATP 3037 and GT35R likewise underperform due to their proprietary housing, which leaves much to be desired. Spend less, get less.

This is not new information, and illustrates two important caveats:

(1) You almost always get what you pay for.

(2) Don't be so quick to believe claims that seem a bit 'optimistic' (or ridiculous in this case). Check with those who can demonstrate first-hand results to get the facts.

The numbers are accurate. Most interestingly, they've never replaced the stock fuel pump!

Remember guys, it's all about tuning... and to say the least, George know's how to tune.

And if you don't believe these numbers... just wait until you see what they have coming up next... I can hardly believe it myself.

It's been demonstrated over and over that the ATP housings compromise power potential to gain convenience of installation - but that is the price you pay for paying a low price.

This says quite a lot:

I'm not sure we are talking about the same car... I was refering to the numbers claimed by ATP on their evo kits. The numbers ATP got are without cams.
