EGT probe in DP?

The EGT probe on my VDO gauge is too large to tap into a runner. I was wondering if it would be OK to tap into the DP, and if anyone knew about how much of a temp difference there will be from the DP to right off the head. Thanks.

You could tap it on your downpipe but the EGT temps will be off by a few hundred degrees (F).

The best (and most accurate) place is still going be right off the block on an exhaust runner.

You may have the wrong probe. The VDO 1/4" npt fitting should work fine on the exhaust manifold. Install instructions for VDO EGT probe.

Evomoto has install instructions for the Defi probe that does not require removal of manifold. They will also work for VDO probe.

Nope, it's the VDO probe, I even purchased it from 42 Draft Designs.

My friend swears by EGT gauges, but considering I'm on the stock turbo and ECU I doubt it will be that big of an asset.

I may sell it and go with a oil temp gauge.

I currently have boost/oil press/egt.

It's better to tap on the runner. But my views on gauges is that only get what you need unless you are just going for show then get all that is available.

I did the DP thing and switched it to the manifold. The temperatures varied too much to have an accurate readings.

It sucks though, I just bought all these VDO gauges, and the probe won't work in the manifolds...

I may swap it for oil temp...

How big is that probe? It seems that there is plenty of space to tap about any size hole that you want?

I have heard of some probes breaking off and destroying turbos. I would get a wb or something else.
