ok, after the walbro fuel pump install, my afr went below the chart after 4000 rpm.

i mean, it's off the chart on richness.

So the whole problem wasn't the exhaust, or high boost, it was actually was the fuel pump that was acting up.

Fortunately, when i did install my walbros, it wasn't loud at all.

thanks guys.

I'll post some picture of the spark plugs in a bit.

I got dynoflashed, set at 11 to 11.4.

Al probably would be able to do much with it as it is. With the pump he'll be able to tune it.
^^ I think he was right.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. Tune went well I take it?

Your statement is correct

lol good call.

yeh, i would of never thought it could be the fuel pump.

I'm thinking after 21 psi, at around 3500rpm when the boost hits, with the MBC holding high boost to the redline, the stock fuel pump isn't capable of delievering enough fuel to meet the boost build up/air induction.

it's fairely clear on the dyno chart, that it does drop but it drops very slowly.

Where with the walbro with it's larger reserve, it's able to crank the fuel in as the ECU wants/needs it.

after 4000 or 5000 RPM or so, the AFR drops rapidly, going way down. By 6000 rpm, i was at 10 AFR even with the higher than stock boost.

now, my tune, the ideal AFT for any FI cars are 11.0 to 11.3, within that range.

So just with few mods, I was able to gain a lot of whp.

The car feels a lot smoother, even at low RPM idle, which I've never felt before.

I'm back to back firing again, and blowing smoke out of my exhaust.

however, compare to the dyno numbers, the car feels a bit slower. I think it might be that it's running so smooth and not as lean before pulling timing all over the place, that it's going faster than before but I just don't feel it that rough.

I'll goto the track soon and find out how much of an improvement it has made.

I did get a air filter, but got here a day late.... but I want suspension setup better than power games. I'm happy with my power right now. Almost at 300 whp, 309tq with 2 mods.

by the way, the fuel pump only took me 30 minutes to install.

I see where everyone is having the problem. I've actually figured out how to get the plate out. It's fairely simple once you figure it out and the Mitsubishi was smart enough to do this for us, so don't blame them. This configuration makes perfect sense and it makes perfect sense on how to take them out, put them in.

not sure I would think that was a good thing. too much fuel will shorten engine life too. you mean you can see dark smoke?

no, i mean, i see dark smoke, and back firing.

yeh, too much fuel does drown the engine... Of course like everything else, dyno tune is never the same as road tune.

I'll see how my afr looks like when I get the wideband. I want to make sure.
