Transfer Case Fluid Capacity Issue

I just changed the fluid in my Transfer case and when refilling the TC the fluid would come back out the fill hole prior to getting the .58 Quarts into the TC. (The owner's manual states capacity is .58 Quart) (The car was on level ground)

I even took the car for a spin afterward and rechecked the TC and the fluid still came out of the fill hole, meaning it is full. I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this.

Yes make sure to recheck the oil after you've driven the car.

The factory shop manual claims it will hold .63 quarts so try to get that in there.

Thanks Hung and Jon, I created a plug for the hose on my gear oil pump so that the hose goes into the TS and plug blocks the backflow from the filler hole, I'm gonna check it again after a cruise to see if it flows out the filler hole, to ensure it is full, I covered my exhaust manifold with a rag when doing this fluid change to ensure the stinky crap didn't get all over the manifold, gotta love gear oil!

They probably could but it's not in that bad of a spot of you have the car on a lift.

It came filled with oil as in you bought a new transfer case and it came filled with with oil??? Odd...usually they only come with a very small amount, less than half a cup of oil.

omarv, unscrew the fill plug and see if the Gear Oil flows out. If not top off with GL-5 Hypoid Gear oil.

i was so shocked ...it came with seals ...and it was top to the end ..my workshop guy tryed to fill more but it was going out !!!
the tc came in a wood box ...and it was seald from each whole !!! i just told him to change it any way ...and he did today.
he but in about 1 liter in it !!!!! dont tell me how !!!!
maby are specs are diffrent ....cuse what he got out was brand new golden oil wich i saw !! it was about a liter !!!
any way it didnt accept much at first but he rotated the wheels so the gears would take the oil and expell the air ..then add more and more ....he said thats the way to do it !!
well i guess he knows better cuse he said thats thy way the do it for the AWD new lambos morcelagos ...whell this work shop are mainly for fixing lambos and ferraries ..
and the oil thy used was castrol somting ...for transmition and gears !!! thy say its thy same used on the morcilago TC !!!
let me see if i can find it on the net

Actually it will make a difference and it can be seen while monitoring transmission & transfer case oil temps. Not having enough oil will lead to overheating.
