E-Brake light flashes on and off while driving.

This has started occuring recently in the morning on my way to school. I'm pretty sure it only happends when I first start the car and the brakes are cool. Basically, everytime I put my foot on the throttle it lights up and stays on for about 5 seconds, and randomly turns off and back on again. Recently it seems to be staying on for longer amounts of time though. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks.

Sounds like your brake fluid level is low. Probably because your pads are getting worn.

If you aren't noticing any brake problems could be as simple as a faulty ground...the only thing that makes that light go on is the ebrake creating a grounded circuit...when I hooked up my dvd to work without the ebrake on...cut the wire too long and the light came on and off when I shifted...if you did any monkying around with the cd player or down there by the shift boot/ebrake handle area...it could just be that simple, But I am always an optimist

The auto industry has done a great disservice by having the same light used to either indicate that the parking brake is engaged, or to indicate a problem with the braking system.

If the Brake light comes on while the parking brake is disengaged, there's a problem. Check the brake fluid level -- should take all of 2 minutes. If it's low, top it off. If it's not, it's probably the ABS computer which is lighting the light -- perhaps one of the wheel speed sensors is not working correctly.
