just installed HKS bov

Mine is VTA and I have no problems at all. Idle is the same and and it seems to run the same if not better. It has a chirping and woosh sound at the same time. Getting the bov onto the flange was a *****. I suggest you clamp the ring first(make it not as stiff) before installing it so its easier to pop in.

Yeah I had the same problem, I think it took us (3 guys) 30 min just to get it on the flange.

How is it going from on boost to off boost then back on boost with the throttle? I just got a 2003 with an HKS SSQBOV and I hate it... It is super jerky when you go from on throttle to off...totally upsets the chassis and would never do for road racing. I had the same issue with MR2 turbos using VTA BOVs.

for some reason i've heard that only 2003 evo's are having problems with rpm drop in low boost from aftermarket BOV's.

I got mine to work well at trailing throttle-no jerkiness, but the thing would always "hunt" for the idle rpm when I pushed in the clutch. I LOVE the sound, and it holds mad boost.I may reinstall it and try again.

I think you have to change your driving style to make it smoother. Its great for drag racing, but to be smooth road racing, well, its alot of work.
