Which is stronger ACD vs VC?

I did a search and can't find a straight answer. Is the 05' with the ACD stronger than 03/04' EVO using a viscous coupling?

I don't want to know which is better for road racing or driving in snow or gravel etc etc. I want to know if I'm launching at 5K which has a better chance of breaking a 03/04' or a 05', and yes I know the front will usually fail first on both models.

Thank you.

For drag racing, most guys go with the mechanical diff cause its easier and cheaper to build or rebuild.

ACD is not for drag racing, it uses clutch packs. VC is prob better

I agree, You might break your from OPEN diff before the VC goes out. I thought the VC has clutch plates also?

I think its a hard judgement to make without looking at the designs themselves. In general, Id say viscous couplings would be better for dragging.

However, since they are different parts, perhaps someone who has taken both apart and analyzed the load bearing features can comment best. Other than that, just look at the numbers after the ACD's have been out for another year or two.

But its not good practice to say in general, VCs are better than ACD, so THIS VC must be better than THIS ACD....see what i mean? You can always build one stronger than the other.

NOLIMIT- you have some experience with both dont you? what are your impressions besides the clutch pack difference? Hope the car's behaving for you...

If you just look at the function the ACD unit is far superior to a VC unit but I would assume that the VC might be stronger and for sure cheaper to rebuild if necessary.
