High oil consumption due to running too rich?
Is it possible to burn a lot of oil due to running rich (11.4 afr at the top) in a newly rebuilt engine with forged pistons?
Use ca. 1.5 liter of oil in a 310 km race!

were the cylinders bored? I am thinking it may need the rings to seat, in which case they should seat pretty well, soon enough, considering you ran the hexx out of them.
new engines are built so well, ring seating is not an issue. rebuilts may not have that level of perfection. plus your builder prolly left some room for the forged parts. notice a little clanking when cold?
your question about afr, I wouldn't think so.

No clanking.
Took the head off and had the valve stems checked: ok.
Noticed same valve seals on exhaust and intake valves (green ones). Thought that would be the problem, but it seemed I ran the same seals before the rebuilt as well.
My tuner says that the engine is running too rich and washes the oil of the cylinder walls?!? Should go to an AFR of ca. 12.5 with these forged (Ross) pistons.
Used to run the engine with std. pistons before and hardly any oil consumption at all. AFR was ca. 11.2.
Don't know at the moment whether to put the head back on and lean the engine out or take te engine out and re-check pistons/rings/cylinders?!?

you have new pistons, means new rings, they need to seat. how many miles are on the new pistons?
I am thinking in terms of old school motors, perhaps a rebuild with modern parts is different. Still I have to think, your going with forged pistons means a little extra room for the rings to work in.
Do they re hone modern cylinders on a rebuild? it would seem logical. thus I would say it again (ring seat).
how many miles do you have on the motor? is it a track only car?
gas washing the cylinders has to do with not enough oil on the cylinder wall, wears out the rings faster, dilutes the oil in the oil pan...
