helix intercooler piping install?

hi i installed the helix intercooler piping yesterday and im getting some wierd noice once i hit 2500 rpms it sounds like there is a leak but im not sure where. the sound actually gets louder when i give it more gas, if i rev the car it wont make the sound but if its in gear and under a load it will make that sound. i have the greddy blow off and i think its that because some times the blow of wont even blow off like its to tight. does anyone have a guess? i installed it with out takeing off the bumper and that shiet was bietch.

You most likely have a boost leak. One thing Ive noticed from installing intercooler pipes is not matter how tight you think you put them on, there can still be a leak. I had the Helix IC pipes then got rid of them and got a full BR setup (IC - upper/lower pipes). We did a boost test and there were leaks everywhere. Two in the lower and 1 in the upper. I used a socket to tighten the phililps-head clamps (screwdriver wont get tight enough). You can usually get the clamps that have flathead peices on top pretty tight but either way, I reccomend using a socket to tighten them. Best thing overall though is to do a boost test!

i just tried to make sure everything is tight and i made a pass at w.o.t and it back fired mid gear. i was looking at the boost guage and the higest it went was 1.35 and that was at a spike. the battery and airbox are holding the pipe from going straight on tho the throtle body so i dont think its sitting right. damn i cant figure it out.

I didnt use T-bolts on them. For one, Helix sent me the wrong size Tbolt clamps and second, aluminum is so much weaker than steel that my brother advised me not to even use them, just use the stock ones, I did, and they worked!

Hi,

The sound you are hearing might be the sound of air rushing thru the pipes. I noticed that after installing the IC pipes. With that being said, I would recommend you to check all the clamps and make sure they are tight, especially the one connecting to the throttle body. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call or swing by our shop.

Thanks,
Tom

cool thanks Tom! i tried like three times to make sure every thing is ok but every time i time i take it out it makes the same noise. it sounds like you said air rushing but its loud. the only place that isnt sitting right in my head is where the throttle body and the pipe meet. its weird.

Does it look like the pipe should be bent more? Mine did that..... the Helix upper pipe looked to be pointing diagnol, not straight at the throttle body. I could not adjust it to make it fit better with the stock battery either, however, it wasnt leaking so I guess it was OK!
